Newborn examination

The Newborn baby assessment (routine) self-directed learning package (SDLP)  has been developed for midwives to support their knowledge and skills required to competently perform an assessment of the newborn.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of the Newborn baby assessment (routine) SDLP will be followed by a Clinical Skills Assessment as outlined in APPENDIX E. Discuss and consult with the Midwifery Educator or Clinical Facilitator for guidance with this process.  Evidence of successful completion of competency will be recorded on the Trendcare database.
