Extended Practice Authority (EPA) Midwives

The Extended Practice Authority (EPA) 'Midwives' has replaced the Drug Therapy Protocol (DTP): Midwives.

Schedule 7, Part 2 of the Medicines and Poisons (Medicines) Regulation 2021 (MPMR) establishes the Extended Practice Authority - Midwives. This EPA replaces the DTP - Midwives made under the now repealed Health Drugs and Poisons Regulation (HDPR).

The EPA 'Midwives' takes effect on the day it is approved - commenced 27/09/2021.


Access the Information Package and complete the Knowledge Assessment to enhance your interpretation and application of the EPA 'Midwives' for clinical practice.

Once completed please submit the Knowledge Assessment to the Midwifery Educator for marking.
