What's new in EndNote X7
This guides provides Queensland Health staff with information and support in using EndNote referencing software.
Information is based on using EndNote with PCs because that is Queensland Health's standard operating environment. If you have a Mac computer, see About EndNote section on this page for links or contact EndNote (Australia) support.
Queensland Health currently subscribes to EndNote version X7.
To install EndNote on your work Windows 7 PC or laptop, download the program from the QH Apps Store. Full instructions available below. Before upgrading, ensure:
EndNote X7 is not compatible with Windows 7 and MS Office 2003 within Queensland Health, which are the standard versions available. Macros in Word 2003 / Win 7 have been disabled by QH - macros are required to run the Cite While You Write CWYW functionality.
To use EndNote X7 on a Queensland Health computer, you need to request Office 2010 from eHealth Queensland (formerly HSIA). You will need to submit an approved Non-Standard Software Request form, which requires high level organisational approval (eg CFO or ED).
To obtain a copy of EndNote X7 for home use, see FAQ below for instructions and contact the LKC for the passkey code.
For technical assistance with EndNote, contact eHealth Queensland through the Self Service Centre or phone 1800 198 175 or call the Australian EndNote Support Desk.
EndNote Basic (also known as EndNote Web or EndNote Online) is a virtual version of EndNote that is saved to the cloud and can be synced with the desktop version of EndNote.
The benefits of EndNote Basic include:
Potential issues with EndNote Basic include:
The LKC recommends the use of the EndNote Desktop version over EndNote Basic. However, if you do not have access to the Desktop version, Basic is a sound backup option, and can be synced to Desktop at a later time. The LKC recommends that EndNote Basic is NOT used for CWYW on a Queensland Health computer.
QH employees have access to EndNote Basic via the QH subscription to EndNote. The LKC can only offer limited assistance with EndNote Basic.
For further assistance with EndNote Basic (Online) please refer to the sites below.
